VKernel vOPS Now Integrates With Microsoft System Center 2012

VKernel vOPS Server product line now has integration compatibility between it self and Microsoft System Center 2012. This integration adds capabilities to Microsoft System Center 2012 to monitor multi-hypervisor environments through alerting for performance and capacity issues in virtual machines. Microsoft has developed System Center as a "single pane of glass" where system administrators can access aggregated information about their physical and virtual environments to monitor and report on their data center infrastructure.

RDM vs. VMFS

VMware offers two ways of provisioning storage to your virtual infrastructure, RDM (Raw Device Mapping) and VMFS (Virtual Machine File System).  The availability of the two options sometime creates some confusion of which to use and if one is better than the other.  Although VMFS is recommended for most virtual disk; RDM was introduced because there are some instances where there is a need to use raw disks storage – e.g. data drives for Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS).

Norwegian School of Economics Selects Tintri Storage Solution

Tintri, a producer of VM-aware flash-based storage appliances was selected by the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) to support its virtual environment. NHH credited Tintri's flash-based storage array and native VM-aware features for helping them overcome the storage bottlenecks that had previously plagued their virtualization project. The university also plans to deploy VDI on Tintri in the coming quarter.
